Tim Williams is a mining industry expert and boasts a unique financial and technical understanding of the sector. He is both a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Geologist. Prior to joining Fair Links in 2013, Tim spent more than 30 years working for mining companies, investment banks and brokers, as well as, international consulting firms.
As a mining specialist for Lehman Brothers and then as Director of Metals and Mining at Ernst & Young, Tim worked on research and valuation assignments focused on mining and metals companies.
As a mining geologist working for major mining companies, Tim conducted numerous geological studies and evaluations of mineral deposits, notably in the diamond industry in Angola (with De Beers), in the tin and tungsten industry in Portugal (with Anglo American), in the gold, uranium, platinum, chromium, manganese and coal industries in South Africa (with Gencor). Tim also worked with junior companies (Golden Star Resources and MDN) where he monitored several gold and diamond exploration projects in South America and Africa.
Tim remains involved in mining operations as the CEO of Andiamo Exploration Ltd, a mineral exploration company that he founded in 2008 and which holds an exploration licence for gold and copper in Eritrea.
Tim holds a PhD in Mining from Imperial College in London, a Bachelor in Geology from the University of Bristol (UK). He also attended the Financial Management Programme at Stanford Business School and has a Diploma in Accountancy and Finance.
